August Knitting...
Dear friends...
Wow. Doesn't look like I have been knitting a lot this August. Partly, it was a bit too hot to sit down and knit (although the computer is hotter - but I must have some priorities, alas). Anyway, I have been doing a very simple hat and scarf for a daughter of a friend - little Lucía, 2 years and a half old. I will send it per post, because the family is not here for holidays anymore, they went back home last week. Argh! I wasn't fast enough.
The scarf is my typical 2x2 ribbing with spaghetti ending. The hat is soooo simple: just some 2x2 ribbing, then stockinette stitch, and then some pseudo-random decreasing here and there... pon-pon is NOT a pon-pon... just some more spaghetti, you know. I have never been able to learn how to do a decen pon-pon :(
Anyway, here it is. It looks nice. There has been some discussions, recently, about using acrylic or not, on the Knitting Novices list. Well, this is acrylic. I bought it in a little chinese shop: four balls 50g each (yes, this is exactly four balls, nothing left) - and it is soft and plush. I love it! Well, 99% of what you saw on this blog is acrylic...
Anyway, hope you like the little august thingy. I am about to finish a terrible, horrible jacket with a very very fat yarn... will let you know everything about this adventure...

Very pretty, She will love it. I don't get the acrylic issue. All yarns have their place. For children acrylic is perfect. For the child & the parents who have to maintain it.

Re the acrylic topic, I use mostly acrylic for my knitting projects, except for the cotton washcloths.

Me llamo María. Fabrizio me dio tu dirección para que viera qué cosas haces. A mi también me gusta hacer calceta y eso, pero tengo una duda muy básica que no logro solucionar:
Cuando hago una bufanda o algo así, no logro que los bordes laterales no se ricen. Me han dicho que eso se puede evitar no haciendo el primer punto de cada vuelta, pero la verdad es que a mi se me sigue rizando.He probado de otras maneras, pero no lo consigo.
Si lees esto y te apetece resolver la duda, pues te lo agradecería.
Me gustan las cosas que has hecho. Yo hice también un gorro casi igual que ese que muestras, del mismo color y todo. Con las chaquetas aún no he probado.
En estos momentos estoy haciendo punto tunecino, que también es entretenido.

Tu problema es el siguiente: al hacer "garter", o sea punto de media, una pasada derecho y una pasada revés, SIEMPRE se te rizará y formará un tubo, con el tiempo. Es inevitable - aunque luego te sirve para hacer otras cosas: por ejemplo para que el borde de un gorrito suba sólo, queda muy mono -.
No hacer el primer punto de cada vuelta no sirve, porque imagínate lo siguiente: imaginemos que la bufanda es de 40 puntos. Qué tiene más fuerza, 1 punto a cada lado o 38 puntos estirando para rizarse?
Solución: haz una bufanda de "ribbing": dos puntos derecho, dos puntos revés. Te saldrá como la de la foto: efecto acordeón. No se riza y queda súper suave. Otra solución: si quieres, haz punto de media, pero crea un marquito a cada lado con punto bobo. O sea: teje los últimos tres o cuatro (si la lana es muy fina) SIEMPRE de derecho, incluso cuando la pasada sea la de revés... eso creará un marquito "borde" que no se rizará, y en el medio sigues tieniendo el punto de media bonito :)

Muchas gracias por responder tan rápido. El efecto "acordeón" me gusta, de hecho tengo una bufanda larguísima hecha toda así, pero esta vez quería que fuera lisa, así que intentaré hacer lo del punto bobo que me cuentas.
El punto tunecino se hace con una sóla aguja que es prácticamente igual que la de ganchillo (o crochet), y que se diferencia en la longitud: la de punto tunecino es larga porque se necesita ir metiendo en ella los puntos, a diferencia del ganchillo normal.Por lo demás es muy similar. Hay distintos tipos de punto y sirve también para hacer bufandas, gorros, bolsos, etc. A mi me gusta :)
