My first lace pattern!
Dear friends,
Here I am again with a new work. I have finally been able to finish a lovely lace pattern that I have found in the great book Knitting for Dummies. I just love it. It is called "Miniature Leaf". It was quite difficult at first, mostly because when you miss one of the stitches the design is ruined. Eventually I was able to finish a decent square, with a garter-stitch frame, so it looks like a lovely framed picture :) What do you think?
I chose, once again, orange yarn. It's so bright! Notice those details between the stitches... Do you like it? What do you think? I would love to hear your comments, really :) If you want me to give out the pattern, just let me know and I'll post it. I used 4.5mm needles (size 7, I guess).
Love,
Flavio

Hi Josie!
I am so glad you liked it! Here is what I did:
Cast on 41 stitches (or a multiple of 6 + 5, in this case I did 36+5=41)
Row 1: Knit (RS)
Row 2: Knit (WS)
Row 3: Knit (RS)
Row 4: Purl (WS)
And now begins the fun ;-) You have to repeat the [ ] part
until 2 stitches remain. First 2 and last 2 stitches of every row
are ALWAYS knit, even on the wrong side! This makes the
garter frame. PSSK is: slip 2, knit one, pass the two slipped
stitches over the knitted one). A bit trick but it works.
A:
K2 - K1 - [K2tog, yo k1, yo ssk, k1] - K2 (last 2 stitches)
B:
Purl through
C:
K2 - K2TOG - [yo k3, yo PSSK (only SSK last time)] - K2 (last 2 stitches)
D:
Purl through
E.
K2 - K1 - [yo ssk, k1, k2tog, yo k1] - K2
F:
Purl through
G:
K2 - K2 - [yo pssk, yo k3 (only k2 last time)] - K2
H:
Purl through
Start again from A to H, to desired length :)
Hope this helps. Let me know if you get stuck with anything, I might help :)
Hugs,
Flavio
Hi Flavio,
Your knitting is beautiful!! I have had the hardest time learning to knit lace, but have manged to knit up to feather and fan scarves and have started a leafy patterned shawl.
Warm regards,
